Football Betting News: College Football Games of the Year Odds
With the start of the 2011 college football season less than two months away, bettors have a chance to do some early handicapping for the upcoming year. Odds for many of the top matchups throughout the season have been posted at a few online sportsbooks. Heres a look at some of the most intriguing contests:
SEC involved in top battles to open the season
On the first Saturday of the season, a couple of SEC clubs are featured in a pair of notable games. In Dallas, the LSU Tigers will square off against the Oregon Ducks to open the year. Both teams are likely to be ranked in the top 10 at the start of the season. After just coming up short against an SEC foe in the BCS title game, the Ducks are a slight 1.5-point underdog against LSU.
In another key national matchup on September 3rd, the Boise State Broncos will head into hostile territory for the second consecutive year to open up a season. In 2010, Boise State defeated Virginia Tech in Washington, D.C. Now, the Broncos must encounter the Georgia Bulldogs in Atlanta. Even though Georgia struggled to a losing record in 2010, the Bulldogs are only a 1-point underdog in the opener.
On the following Saturday, traditional powers Notre Dame and Michigan will square off in Ann Arbor. The Irish are a 4.5-point choice in the contest. In a game with some potential BCS implications, the Oklahoma Sooners will travel to Tallahassee to line up against the Florida State Seminoles. Oklahoma is a 2-point favorite in the showdown on September 17th. Last year in Norman, the Sooners cruised to an easy win over the Seminoles.
On October 1st, a couple of SEC heavyweights will face off in Gainesville. The Alabama Crimson Tide are a 6-point choice against the Florida Gators. On the same day, the Nebraska Cornhuskers will face an early challenge as a new member of the Big 10 conference. In Madison, the Cornhuskers are a field goal underdog against the Wisconsin Badgers.
On November 5th, the SEC West crown will likely be at stake when LSU travels to Alabama. The Tigers are a touchdown underdog in the critical affair. A week later, the Stanford Cardinal will get a chance to avenge the clubs lone defeat in the 2010 campaign when Oregon arrives in Palo Alto. The Ducks are a 2.5-point favorite in the rematch.
